Tierah West is a 2016 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, where she earned a bachelors of science in sociology and minored in urban and regional studies. She is currently working towards a masters degree in public health and expects to graduate in May 2019. Ms. West has worked in research since 2013, where she began as a high school intern in VCU's Division of Epidemiology; throughout her career, she has also worked at the VCU Center on Society and Health, VCU Department. of Health Behavior and Policy, and the Virginia Department of Health’s Office of Health Equity. Recently, Tierah accepted a full time position as an applied research coordinator for a private maternal and child health non-profit organization, where she leads all data and research-related efforts and activities. Her research interests include health equity and maternal and child health. Ms. West would ultimately like to research health disparities targeted at minority families and children, with a focus on study design and analysis. In addition to her career, Ms. West is a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated.
