In September, Sarah Beaverson, M-4, was awarded a 2023 Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Foundation Student Scholarship. Beaverson, a student in the department's fmSTAT program, previously served as VCU Student Family Medicine Association Co-President and a Virginia Academy of Family Physicians Student Board Member. Given to just 27 students nationally, "This highly competitive scholarship is awarded to some of the best and brightest medical students from across the country. In addition to recognizing a strong commitment to academic family medicine through scholastic, volunteer, and leadership pursuits, this award acknowledges the recipient’s strong potential for a career in academic medicine. ."
At the 2023 STFM Conference on Medical Student Education in January, Sarah plans to present a poster titled Concordance of Primary HPV Testing among Clinicians and Patients: A Systematic Review.
