On Friday, March 21, 2025, medical students and residency programs across the country learned what the next years will bring.
In the VCU School of Medicine 2025 Match, 27 students matched in Family Medicine, and four of them matched to programs in Virginia. Three of them will remain with VCU in our affiliated residency programs – one at Shenandoah Valley in Front Royal, and two at St. Francis in Midlothian.
Of this group of matched students, several are members of the department's I2CRP and fmSTAT programs, two were part of December's military match, and one was featured in a VCU School of Medicine story about her plans for residency and beyond: "As doctors, we are leaders in our communities, whether you set out to be or not. It’s always been important for me to learn how to be a good leader and advocate for my community, because my voice will be stronger than ever after residency.” Read more about Ashley Le-Pham and what's next in her family medicine journey here: https://medschool.vcu.edu/news/student-life/match-2025/
The second class of our VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency program in South Hill will bring three additional Family Medicine PGY-1 residents to Virginia. For their first year, they will be in Richmond on the main VCU Health campus and will then transition to VCU Health Community Memorial Hospital in South Hill for their second and third years, joining our inaugural residency class.
We are excited to welcome all of these new PGY-1 residents to VCU Family Medicine!
